@ReX342 “Human beings are robot- slaves of a selfish, greedy survival
machine,nDNA”.[Dawkins]. Is this not uncannily like Buddha and J.
Krishnamurti’s description of our consciousness? The selfish ‘me’ is rooted
in our cells, and arises in the brain as ‘Thought’. THC ‘affects the cell
receptors which are involved with Thought, memory and time.’ Cannabis
actively suppresses the ‘me’ at its source, the cell. Unfortunately, this
‘new mind’ lasts only as long as the THC remains active.
“Gaudapada’s Philosophy” by Surendranath Dasgupta, from “A history of
Indian Philosophy” vol. 1
God is a concept. The NOW is pure being, no concepts arising. The NOW, as
you call it, cannot be defined or understood intellectually so why bother
attaching such a heavy word like God to it? It just is what it is, nothing
more. No need for the extra baggage.
Lol he should have added that not even sleep can offer you respite from
thoughts, because they get you in your dreams.
How is it a religion when they do not believe in a God? Buddhism has been
around a lot longer than the Dalai Lama, whom I personally don’t trust any
more than the pope.
Just attended a 10 day Vipassana course… 🙂 So wonderful. It works.
“Meditation is listening to divine within” Edgar Cayce – “Who looks outside
dreams, who looks inside awakes” Carl Jung
Finally, someone willing to talk about this without the bullshit!
The meditation he mentions here, Vipassana, is not only non-secular
(created by the Buddha; not Buddhist) but also offered freely, in 10 day
retreat centers all over the world. Just google it. Be warned though, it’s
anything but easy. Real rewards come through real work.
don’t call those teachings and philosophies religion. Because they are not
when you are doing what you like …what you really like – you really
forget about time….’stop thinking’ – so how is that different from THIS
meditation ? This is a very serious question. thx, anyone
Why one of the most famous atheists practices meditation
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen on the mechanics and reasons for
mediation from a western perspective. The bottom line: its really, really
hard…but yields tremendous positive effects.
Would like to see him grab his coffee cup hahaha.
